Obituary | 5 February 1912 | "The Grafton Argus", Grafton, NSW, Australia; Obituary. ARTHUR T TUCKEY On Friday night there passed away, at a private hospital in South Grafton, Arthur Tuckey, late of Half-Way Creek, in his 63rd year. Deceased had, as reported in a former issue of the "Argus," been laid up at South Grafton for about a week, suffering from bronchitis and measles. He leaves a widow and grown-up family to cherish the memory of a sturdy pioneer and a true home man. The name of Tuckey has long been associated with the history of the southern portion of the district. In his capacity as selector farmer, accommodation house an wine saloon keeper, post and telephone master, etc., he had been brought into contact with most classes of the community. and was noted for an amount of kindness none the less genuine because it, was not accompanied by the doubtful quality of sanvitv. His removal is a distinct loss to the district, speaking in the broadest terms. The remains were interred in the Anglican portion of the South Grafton cemetery on Saturday afternoon, the Rev. C. E. Curtis officiating.4 |
