Death of Spouse | 5 January 1909 | Mount Gambier, SA, Australia;OBITUARY. Mrs. William Williams.—The death is announced in the "Watch", this morning of Mrs. Agnes Williams, wife of Mr. W. Williams, machinist, of Mount Gambier. The deceased had recently suffered severely from influenza and asthma, which, acting on an enfeebled constitution, were the immediate cause of her death, which occurred early yesterday morning. The late Mrs. Williams, whose maiden name was Hall, was born at Morbattle, Roxburghshire, Scotland, 76 years ago, and came to Australia with her friends 54 years ago. Fifty-one years ago she was married at Mount Barker to Mr. Williams, and about 43 years ago came with her husband and young family to Mount Gambier. For the whole of that time, with the exception of six years, during which Mr. Williams and family were at Casterton, the deceased lived at Mount Gambier. She leaves a family of six—four sons and two daughters. The sons are Messrs. William Williams, Western Australia, Robert H. Williams, Buckland Park, Thomas Oliver Williams, Mount Gambier, and John Williams, Roseworthy College; and the daughters are Mrs. Thos. Hall, Mount Gambier, and Mrs. J. Hooper, Casterton. She leaves nearly 20 grandchildren. The funeral is announced by Mr. H. R. Jobling for this afternoon.;Principal=Agnes Hall9 |
Death* | 25 December 1926 | Mount Gambier, SA, Australia; OBITUARY. MR. WILLIAM WILLIAMS. Mr. William Williams, whose death took place on Christmas Day, was born in Swansea, South Wales, on September 15, 1839, and lived there with his father and mother and other members of the family until he was 10 years if age. In June of 1852 he came to Adelaide in the ship Charlotte. His father and family followed him out in 1867. Mr. Williams was married when he was barely 21 years of age, and he started business as a blacksmith where Burcham's old mill was, and continued in this connection for many years. He was an ingenuous man and constructed many mechanical objects. He had a foundry which was sold to Mr. T. H. Varcoe, and Mr. Williams went into retirement some years ago. He was a brother of the late Mr. T. Williams, one time manager of the Moorak Estate. Mrs. Williams died in June, 1909. Out of a family of eight four survive, namely two sons and two daughters. The daughters are Mrs. T. Hall, Mount Gambier, and Mrs. J. A. Hooper, Casterton. The Rev. A. H. Ballinger conducted the funeral service.10 |
