Death of Spouse | 18 August 1929 | Lane Cove House Hospital, Penrose Street, Lane Cove, NSW, Australia; Grazier's Death FOUND UNCONSCIOUS ON ROCKS MYSTERY SURROUNDS OCCURRENCE SYDNEY, Monday, Mystery surrounds the death of Albert Thomas Uphill, grazier, of Pine Hills, Deniliquin, who was found unconscious late on Saturday night on the rocks below Lane Cove House, Hospital, Penrose Street, Lane Cove. Police and doctors so far have been unable to tell what caused his death, and the City Coroner has ordered his body to be taken to the City Morgue. Uphill was a patient at the hospital. He was in his bed at noon, but at 1.30 p.m. a nurse noticed that he was missing. A search was made of the grounds and the locality without result. It was continued after dark, and shortly before midnight he was picked up unconscious on a slipper of the rocks a few feet from the river. Without regaining consciousness, Uphill died at 12.10 a.m. As the fence of the hospital grounds is about 30 feet above the spot where Uphill was found, it is thought he fell over. His injuries, however, did not indicate a heavy fall, and a seizure while strolling is thought likely. He had a few cuts about his head. ;Principal=Albert Thomas Uphill2 |
