OBITUARY
MR. A. C. CRAMPTON.
We regret to record the death of one of the pioneers of the field, in the person of Mr. Alfrd Charles Crampton, which occurred at his residence on Tuesday night last. The deceased gentleman had a paralytic stroke about seven years ago, and has been an invalid ever since.
The late Mr. Crampton was born in Lincolnshire, England, coming to Australia with his parents when two years of age. Prior to coming to Wyalong at the outbreak of the gold field, he resided in the Condobolin
district, his father owning "Newlands," for many years. He conducted a butcher's shop here for some years, and afterwards he had a string of horses and drays with which he was a familiar figure for many years.
Six years ago he took up a farm on the Yalgogrin road, which has been worked by two of his boys under his direction. He was held in the highest esteem and respect by a large circle of friends.
The funeral took place on Wednesday afternoon, the remains being interred in the Church of England portion of the local cemetery. The members of the Manchester Unity Oddfellows, of which he was a member, marched in procession to the cemetery.
The Rev. C. S. Robertson officiated, at the graveside, and Mr. Mills conducted the funeral arrangements.
A wife, three sons and four daughters are left to mourn their sad loss, to whom we extend our sincere sympathy. The sons are Messrs Will (Guyra); Charles and Harry (West Wyalong). and the daughters are Mrs. A. Charters (New Zealand), Mrs. G. Leadbitter (Tullibigeal), and Misses Jane and Marjory (West Wyalong).4
