DIED IN GAOL.
BATHURST, Thursday.
In Bathurst Gaol this morning George Field, aged 72 years, died. Deceased was received from Cowra on Monday. He had been sentenced to a months' imprisonment for attempted suicide.
Deceased was a resident of Canowindra. On July 29 he shot himself in the forehead with a pea rifle, the bullet entering the brain, and could not be removed. The gaol authorises at Cowra sent him to Bathurst for medical treatment. He remained in a semi-concious condition from the time of his reception.
At an inquest before Mr. M'Kell, coroner, and a Jury, a verdict was returned that death was caused from the effects of a gunshot wound, self-inflicted.5
