News-Arct* | 18 February 1899 | "The Forbes Times", Forbes, NSW, Australia; DEATH FROM CANCER.—The long and exceedingly painful illness of Mr. John Field terminated finally on Tuesday last. Some little time ago Mr. Field was operated on for cancer in the neck, since when he has never left the hospital. The case was hopeless from the outset, and last week bleeding set in from one of the arteries. The deceased was buried in the Church of England portion of the cemetery on Wednesday, the Rev. W. J. Dunstan administering the last sad rites at the grave, while a large concourse of old friends followed the remains to their last resting pi ace. Mr. Field was one of the oldest residents in this locality, and, while only 65 years of age, his life on the Lachlan dates back a very long way. He was one of the brothers who have nearly all their lives lived on or about Carrawobbity.8 |
