Death of Father | 18 July 1944 | "Gortnessy", Nepean Avenue, Penrith, NSW, Australia; The Late Mr. A. S. Lamrock Mr. Arthur Stanton Lamrock, who died suddenly at his residence, ''Gortnessy," Nepean Avenue, Penrith, on 18th inst., was the son of the late Mr and Mrs McAusland Lamrock, and was born at Bathurst. His mother was one of a well-known Stanton family of Castlereagh. Deceased was educated at Sydney Grammar School and afterward at Newington College, matriculating there and going to Sydney University. After graduating in Arts, Mr Lamrock took up law and practised for a time at Orange. Afterward he was in Tamworth for some years, and came to Penrith in 1926, taking over the old legal business that had been conducted for many years by the late Mr D McDonald, and which has since been continued under the well-known style of A. S. Lamrock and Son. During his 18 years residence in this district, Mr Lamrock won the high regard of the people of the community, in which his personal characteristics, professional ability, and social qualities were highly appraised. He was for a time a director of the Board of Nepean District Hospital and took a helpful part in its deliberations. He was also a member of the Chamber of Commerce and a patron of Penrith Golf Club. It was at St. John the Baptist Church Milson's Point that he was married to Millcent Pearson, who survives him, and this much esteemed lady and two sons—Brian (Penrith) and Maurice (Lindfield) have the sympathy of many people of the district in their bereavement. Mr Stewart Lamrock of Trangie, and Mrs Woodward and Mrs Barton, both of Strathfleld, are brother and sisters of the deceased. The funeral took place on 18th inst., proceeding to the Northern Suburbs Crematorium. The service was conducted by the Rector of Penrith, Rev. R. S. Chapple.;Principal=Arthur Stanton Lamrock3 |
