Death* | 1 October 1955 | Muswellbrook, NSW, Australia; Death MR. PATRICK MULLINS A resident of Muswellbrook for 41 years, died on Saturday last. He was Mr. Patrick Mullins, who came to Muswellbrook from Blayney in 1914 to take up a position as engineer and refrigeration attendant with the Country Freezing Co. Ultimately, he took over the management of the company's Muswellbrook branch, and later served in various capacities until his retirement. He was associated with the company in those years when the works treated hundreds of thousands of rabbits for home and export markets. To-day an occasional stick of rabbits is brought into the works. The late Mr. Mullins was 78. He was born at Wimbledon in the Bathurst district, where his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Thos. Mullins, carried on grazing pursuits. Deceased had been in ill-health for several months, but this did not deter him from engaging in light duties at the home of his son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Reg. Mullins, with whom he had resided since the death of his wife six years ago. He took a keen interest in cricket, and spoke interestingly of the development of Muswellbrook, and of the men and women who had figured prominently in the life of the town. The late Mr. Mullins leaves three children, Bernard (Grafton), May (Mrs. C. Davis, Lane Cove), and Reginald (Muswellbrook). He leaves also six grandsons. Surviving sisters and brothers are Mrs. E. Wright (Bathurst), Mrs. Young (Crookwell), Mrs. Collins (Carlton) and Mr. Thomas Mullins (Miranda). The funeral took place to the Church of England cemetery. The large number of mourners, representative of all walks of life, was a striking tribute to the memory of an old and highly respected citizen.5 |
