OBITUARY.
MRS. GEORGE SIMMONS, SEN.
Apparently in the best of health on Sunday, 13th October, Mrs. George Simmons, Sen., of Grassdale, Trundle, N.S.W., took suddenly ill on Monday, and being hurriedly conveyed to Advie Private Hospital, died in that institution about 8 o'clock the same night. The end was a very peaceful one, Mrs. Simmons lapsing into a state of coma before she died. The cause of death, it is understood, was heart failure.
The late Mrs. Simmons, who was 69 years of age, wan born at Allandale, South Australia, her maiden name being Margaret Mary Harmer. Her parents died when she was quite young, and she was reared by her uncle, the late Thomas Williams, of Moorak Station. She was married to Mr. George Simmons at Kaniva, Victoria, in 1893, and went to the Trundle (N.S.W.) district, where Mr. Simmons had taken up Grassdale several years before. Deceased leaves four sons—Ernest, Walter, George, and Leonard—and one daughter, Mrs. Noel Kramer, all of Trundle; and one brother, Mr. Harry Harmer, of Trundle.
The high esteem in which the late Mrs. Simmons was held was evinced by the exceptionally large attendance at the funeral. The procession of cars was one of the largest yet seen in Trundle, many people coming distances of 40 miles to pay their last respects.6
