Death* | 29 November 1950 | District Hospital, Lithgow, NSW, Australia; Death of Mr. Arthur Lennox A well-known resident of Lithgow for over 35 years, Mr. Arthur Lennox, of Vale-road, passed away in the district hospital this morning, aged 68. Mr. Lennox was admitted to that institution on Saturday after a illness of three months resulting from an accident — in which he lost a leg — at the Lithgow coal-stage. Born at Penrith, deceased came to Lithgow 35 years ago and had been a resident ever since. An employee of the Railway Department for over 40 years, he was an engine-driver for 20 years. Very well known and highly popular in Lithgow, he was a member of the James Collie Temperance Lodge and a member of the Workman's Club. He was one of the best-known men on the western line in railway circles. Deceased leaves a widow, Mrs. Hannah Lennox, of Vale-road, and two sons (Harold, of Lithgow, and Francis of Mosman) and four daughters—Joan (wife of Constable D. Dickman, of Lithgow), Dorothy (of Deacon House, Sydney), Norma (King's Cross) and Joan (Lithgow). Two brothers also survive—Harry, of Enfield, and Les, of Lithgow—and five sisters, including Mrs. Ev. Summons, of Lithgow. The funeral will take place tomorrow after a service at St. Paul's Church of England, commencing at 2 p.m. Interment will take place in the Church of England portion of Bowenfels cemetery. Mr. Joseph Mills, Lithgow City Funeral Director, is in charge of arrangements.4 |
